Perineal Birth Preparation
I advocate for preparing the pelvic floor in anticipation of vaginal deliveries. While this is especially crucial during a woman's first pregnancy, it remains beneficial for subsequent births as well. This preparation may include specific stretches aimed at facilitating tissue stretch, optimising the ability for the pelvis to open during delivery and enhancing the pelvic outlet. Perineal massage also plays a significant role in this process.

Perineal Massage
I recommend starting perineal massage at 35 weeks of pregnancy. This technique can be taught in our clinic, where I will guide you on the correct pressure and area of focus for the massage. Once you’ve learned the technique, you can perform the massage at home or schedule additional sessions with me for more guidance. Additionally, I've created a special perineal massage "add-on" package, available in the packages and add-ons section of our online bookings.
I also like to look at pelvic floor coordination at this time, to see how you open into the stretch anticipated. If I notice any lack of coordination, I’ll prioritise working on this with you in the clinic. This is often observed in women with a history of trauma—whether sexual or emotional—along with those who experience anxiety, fear of childbirth, or musculoskeletal issues like pelvic girdle pain or lower back and hip dysfunction.
Packages and Add On's
I've designed a range of "packages" and "add-ons" to assist women in finding the right pelvic health services during pregnancy. While these resources are especially beneficial for first-time mothers, they’re also ideal if you’re new to pelvic health services.
